Pete was one of the finest men I have ever had the pleasure of working with, a role model with a clear sense of values. I first met Pete when I was a young trooper at Hightstown Station. His demeanor was calm and reassuring. He was a mentor for me and many others, someone to emulate. I knew immediately that he was just a “Good Guy”. He was composed, professional and meticulous about his appearance. He loved to laugh and made you laugh. We worked many a dreary midnight patrol where we talked about the important things in life: family and softball. We played together in many softball tournaments - won some and lost few. He was a great teammate. I will miss that infectious smile. Our prayers are with you. God Bless you.
Sincerely,
Jim Mulholland #2881 Retired NJSP

I was lucky enough to have worked for Pete twice during my career. When Pete was a buck Sgt and a Sergeant First Class. He was a squared away trooper. As soon as you met him you knew he was a real, and a genuine person who took care of his troopers. He was very well respected by the men. A true gentleman. God Bless Pete.

Pete was my Sergeant when I was a 'rookie' Trooper at Edison. We came in contact many times over the years and it was always a pleasure to be in his company. His good humor, compassion and support were refreshing in a 'tough guy' outfit. Radio transmissions were always dry and professional. If you hailed the station, you identified your car number and were identified and responded to by that number. When Pete was on the radio, he would respond by using your name, not car number. Nobody else ever did that. It was extraordinarily humane and appreciated. That was Pete.

Pete, was truly one of the good guys! Always in a great mood, friendly & squared away. I worked with Pete at Colts Neck barracks in 1981; everyone loved Pete. I’ll always remember his sense of humor & that infectious smile & laughter. My wife & I will keep
Pete in our prayers and we are VERY sorry for your loss. One of the good guys has passed on. Sincerely, Danny Cortese #3092 NJSP (ret)
