Joan Caricofe Beck, age 95, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away on 08/30/26. She was born on 4/25/31 in Akron, OH to Howard and Lela Caricofe.
Joan graduated from Manchester High School and Akron Actual Business College. She worked at Beatrice Foods in Akron and then at North Canton Hoover Company. After moving to Punta Gorda, FL in 1970, she and her husband William H. Beck owned and operated the JO-EL Motel in Punta Gorda.
Joan loved to bake and deliver amazing Christmas cookie trays to her family and friends. She also cooked and served food at her church Friendship United Methodist Church in Tropical Gulf Acres, Punta Gorda.
She and her husband William H. Beck were married 66 years at his passing in 2017. She was also preceded in death by her sister Jean Burgoon, her niece Kay Burgoon, and her granddaughter Kelly O’Conner.
She is survived by her children Brenda Gray (Kent) of Myrtle Beach, SC, William Beck (Charlotte) of Punta Gorda, and James Beck (Valerie). Grandchildren Nikki Blaser (Mike), Travis Swint (Kate), Brooke Mohle (Zachary), Jarrod Beck (Megan), Janine Martin (Rich), Wyatt Beck (Dalton), Jessica Brady (Patrick), Blair Wehausen (Andrew) and 20 great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Friday 9/4/26 at 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Kays Ponger Uselton Funeral Home at 635 E. Marion, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. Entombment to follow at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens at 3:00 p.m. at 27200 Jones Loop Road, Punta Gorda, FL 33982.
