Barbara Damitio, cherished mother and grandmother passed away August 26, 2017, leaving a hole in the hearts of those who loved her. Barbara was born January 26, 1941 in Port Angeles WA and graduated from Port Angeles High School in 1959. She attended the University of Puget Sound where she received a BA in Sociology and went on to work for the American Red Cross. She was married to Murray Damitio from 1963 to 1979 becoming a home maker and mother to two children, Kim and Dean.
She began working as a medical office manager in 1980, retiring in 1995. She then became a doting grandmother to her seven grandchildren enjoying babysitting and participating in all of their activities and milestones. Her kids and grandkids meant the world to her. She deeply loved life and people, family BBQ’s, lunches out, drives around town, the beauty of Mount Rainier on a sunny day, and animals of all kinds. She was known as “mom” to most of her children’s friends and welcomed them all into her home and life with open arms.
Barbara lived many places including Port Angeles, Tacoma, Puyallup and a combined total of ten years in Juneau, Alaska. For the past ten years she lived in Graham, Washington in a little house on her daughter’s farm.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Mildred McGlenn, her sister Norma Baker and several close friends whom she missed so deeply. Barbara is survived by her children Kim (Pat) Nicholl, Dean (Lisa) Damitio, grandchildren; Devin, Austin and Skylar Damitio, Brandon and Alex Nicholl, Mariah Storlie, Ryan Braman, many dearly-loved cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and her beloved dog Sully.
A celebration of life will be held on September 24th, 2017
2:30 pm to 5:00 pm at the Lodge at Frontier Park, 21718 Meridian East, Graham WA 98338
