Charlotte Pflug died October 5, 2013 just short of her 91st birthday at her home in Milton Washington. A nearly lifelong Pierce County resident, Charlotte was born in Tacoma in 1922, the third of four children. She spent her childhood on Puyallup’s South Hill attending Firgrove School and Puyallup High School, graduating in 1940. Charlotte married Roy Pflug in 1945 in Libertyville, Illinois and they returned to Washington a year later. Roy preceded her in death in 1982. Charlotte worked as an administrative assistant in jobs throughout the Tacoma area, retiring from Allenmore Hospital where she twice received their Outstanding Employee award. Charlotte was a giving, caring and gentle presence in the lives of all who knew her. She had a delightful curiosity about the world and made friends wherever she went. She also had a very green thumb, creating a garden oasis in her back yard. Charlotte celebrated her 90th birthday at a gala party last year where she was feted by family and friends. We are glad for her long, rich life and we will miss her and her many kindnesses. We give special thanks to the Group Health hospice team who made it possible for our mom to stay in her own home until the end. Charlotte is survived by her children Beth Pflug (Susan), Kathy Thomsen (Ken), and Cori Pflug Tilton (Thomas) and grandchildren Jessica Kelly, Robert Thomsen, Peter Pflug Tilton, Lili Pflug Tilton, Alice Tilton and Elizabeth Armstrong. A celebration of Charlotte’s life will be held at the Milton Activity Center, 1000 Laurel Street on Saturday, November 9th at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the charity of your choice.
