Dorothy Poethig 8/31/1931 - 12/15/2010 Mom passed away peacefully in her sleep on 12/15/2010. Mom was born to Edward and Agnes Kennedy on 8/31/1931. She was one of 9 children. She was predeceased by 4 sisters and 2 brothers. She is survived by her daughters Sharon (David) Wexler, Laura Young, Randy Roberts, Lisa (Allen) Jackson, son Paul Beekman, Jr., and brothers Leroy and Lloyd (Elizabeth) Kennedy. She has six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mom graduated from Lincoln High School in 1950. She remained friends with several of her classmates until her death. Mom worked for 45 years for Safeway; she also had several second jobs in her lifetime. She worked as a caller for Bingo, but opted to play Bingo instead, as it was much more profitable. Mom would tell you she retired from meat wrapping to work as a professional Bingo player. Mom's favorite things to do were dancing and swimming. She once swam from Owens Beach to Vashon Island when she was 17 years old. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Andrea Rose and Dr. Nathan Bittner, Good Samaritan Cancer Center; Debbie Turner, RNEand Tina Schoelkopf, MSW with Hospice; Lowell and Tina Doud, Carol Taggart and Eileen Tyo, Mom's very extraordinary friends. Services will be held at Powers Funeral Home, 320 West Pioneer, Puyallup, WA 98371-5374, (253) 845-0536, on 12/18/2010 at 1:00pm.
