Garrett was born on July 24th, 1995 in Tacoma to Sheila (Hulm) Hartman and Gerald Hartman. Garrett was the first of Gerald and Sheila’s two children, leading to many family adventures. Garrett was active in baseball, basketball, and football during his youth. He loved to ride quads and motorcycles. Garrett enjoyed spending every summer on the farm in North Dakota. The Hartman family had a cabin in Packwood, WA where he spent a lot of his time doing one of his favorite hobbies, snowboarding with friends and family. He was raised in Tacoma, and graduated from Puyallup High School in 2014. Garrett attended the Refrigeration Institute in Phoenix, Arizona for one year, and graduated in July of 2015.
He worked at MCS Northwest from 2016 to 2017, as a Refrigeration Mechanic; he was very dedicated to his field of work and took pride in his job.
Garrett was a very witty person, with a contagious smile, and with a lot of love to give. He wasn’t afraid to show his quirky side to friends and family with his silly jokes all the time. He enjoyed driving his car, going to the shooting range, and taking bubble baths.
Garrett met the love of his life Emily Scholz in Junior High School and they always remained close friends. After High School they realized they couldn’t live without each other and started a relationship. They enjoyed taking vacations, hiking, shopping, tasting new foods, and anything that they could do together. The love they had for each other was so obvious to anyone around them and continued to flourish day by day in the short amount of time they had together. The two of them had an everlasting love.
