George was the son of George Meachem and Margaret Ross Meachem. He was a longtme resident of Tacoma. George was trained in upholstery and he worked most of his life as a warehouseman and later as a security officer for the Muckleshoot Bingo Operation. At the age of 17, George became a member on the U.S. Marine Corp where he spent time in Okinowa, Japan and Twenty Nine Palms Marine Base in California. He was an avid sports fan of the Mariners, Seahawks, Seattle Sonics, and other local sport teams. He also enjoyed playing a good game of nine-ball. George was proud to be a member of the Yakama Tribe. He spent many summers in Warm Springs, Oregon with his grandparents on the ranch.George enjoyed Native American drumming, singing, and traveling to local celebrations. We will always remember his famous potato salad and homemade chilli. Special thanks to Heartwood Rehabilitation facility. and the doctors, and Puyallup Tribal Health Authority. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, brothers, and many loving relatives and friends. A Vigil Service will be held Sunday, August 25th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Powers Funeral Home, 320 W. Pioneer Ave in Puyallup. A Funeral Service will also be held Monday, August 26th from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM also at Powers Funeral Home in Puyallup.
