

Helen Hilliard, “Lady Bug,” was born April 6, 1919, and passed away on December 12, 2013. Helen lived her childhood and early adult life in New York City. She was a waitress across from the Empire State Building when she met Harry Hilliard. He was a merchant marine during World War 2. They met on St. Patrick’s Day. They came to Tacoma and married in 1948. Helen loved her bingo and drove her lady bug Volkswagen almost every day to BJ’s bingo. She leaves many dear friends from there. Helen was a tiny red head that was colorful, funny, spoke four languages, danced, gambled and lived and loved life to the fullest. She is preceded in death by her husband Harry, son Charlie, sister Elsie and brother August. She is survived by her daughter Linda, son in law Mike, two grandsons and two great grandsons. Viewing will be Friday, December 20, from 3 to 6 pm at Powers Funeral Home in Puyallup.
