Joel Jay Steffen

Joel Jay Steffen, 39 passed away Sunday September 18, 2011 at his home in Bonney Lake. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Holli Steffen, and their 3 children Zoe Mae "Day", Zander John "Bud", Ava Jae "Bug". Joel is also survived by his parents Donald A. Steffen and Dorothy Bradley, sisters Doreen Steffen and her significant other Gary Oakes, nephew Jarrett Arturet, neice Ileah Arturet and former brother-in-law Carlos Arturet, his other sister Dayle Terrile and her husband Paul, nephew Vinnie, niece Gianna. Sister-in-law Tracey Williams and her husband David, nieces Skylar, Molli and Mia. He is preceded in death by his brother John Louis Steffen.

Joel was a 1991 graduate of Rogers High School in Puyallup. A military veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served 4 years in one of the more advanced fields of the Navy; Aviation Electronics, fixing and maintaining all of the electronic components of naval aircraft. Joel graduated from UTI in 1997 with an Associates degree in HVAC technology and was employed by MacDonald-Miller.

Joel was a devoted father, son, and brother. He was an avid supporter of his children's BMX racing and gave each child a special nickname. He greatly enjoyed outdoor activities, particularly camping with his family.

Funeral services will be held Saturday September 24 at 1 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home at 320 W. Pioneer Ave, Puyallup, WA. A memorial will follow at Swiss Sportsman Club, 9205 198th Ave E., Bonney Lake, WA.
