John was born on March 16, 1927, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. His family returned to County Cork, Ireland, where he spent his childhood (and acquired his charming accent). He served 30 years in the Air Force, retiring in 1975 as a Chief Master Sergeant. He then went on to work in the Postal Service and the Pierce County Prosecutor’s office. He was married 53 years to the love of his life, Betty Browne, who passed away in 2003. They were long-time residents of South Hill, Puyallup. Throughout his working career he always managed to balance his work, family, and love of the outdoors, which included gardening, hunting, and fishing. In later years, he looked forward to his annual Alaska fishing trip, which became the highlight of every year. John passed away February 15, 2013, and is survived by his two daughters, Kay Bauer and Nina Clancy (Mike), his two sons, Chris and Willie Browne, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Donations may be made to St. John of the Woods Catholic Church, 9903 24th Ave E, Tacoma.
