Jack was born May 4, 1932, to Ora and Mabel Murrey in Fife, Washington. He spent his entire life in Fife except for the 4 years he spent in the Navy. He joined his senior year and was stationed on the USS Black, a Naval destroyer at the end of the Korean War.
He met the love of his life, Loretta Olive in 1954 and shortly thereafter they were married. They celebrated 62 years together before her passing in March.
Jack loved the Fife community and knew that was where he wanted to raise his five children. He had multiple jobs early on and for several years he ran the family business, Murrey’s Saw Shop. Jack also spent several years as the volunteer Fire Chief for Fife, where he made many lifelong friends. Eventually Jack found a job that he really loved. He spent over 25 years working for Northwest Orient Airlines in cargo and retired from there.
Jack was a true handyman and could fix just about anything. Later in life, he spent most of his Thursdays with a men's' group at the church taking care of anything that was needed! When he wasn’t fixing things, he loved to travel. He and Loretta spent many years boating and RVing with friends and family. He purchased his dream boat, a 32-foot wood Chris-Craft which he loved to work on. In their later years, they moved from sea adventures to land treks and purchased an RV. They also enjoyed cruising to Alaska, Panama Canal and Hawaii with dear friends Jim and Rita Curry.
Jack was most proud of his family and is survived by his five children: daughter Sherri Cail (Doug), sons Larry (Laurie), Lloyd (Stacy), Lonny (Mady), Scott (Celene), fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
