Joseph Gerald Brown Sr.

Joseph Gerald (Joe) Brown Sr., 90, of Puyallup, WA formerly of Erie, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Arizona, departed this life Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, WA. He was born May 28, 1924, in Erie, the son of the late Theodore Chester Brown and Viola Ellen Hipsley Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Julie Wright Brown; brother Theodore Brown; and son Jeffery Brown.Joe was a faithful husband, loving dad, grandpa, and great grandpa. He served in the United States Army during WWII in the South Pacific. He was a great businessman owning his own Stride Rite shoe stores. He enjoyed socializing, good friends, playing cards, good food, traveling, and the companionship of his special friend Iola Merritt.Those left to cherish his memory are his son Joseph G. Brown Jr. and daughter-in-law Esther Brown; former daughter-in-law Debbie Brown; two grandsons Adam and Jeffery Brown; and four granddaughters Elizabeth Bergmann, Jennifer, Amanda and Rachel Brown; five great-grandchildren, Zachary and Kyle Bergmann and Colin, Lauryn and Carsen Brown, grand son-in-law Michael Bergmann and grand-daughter-in-law Mary Brown; and sisters Barbara Davis and Mary Ellen McGrath, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
