

Joyce Welch Saxton was born on April 10th, 1935 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to James and Geraldine Welch. With family by her side, she passed away on January 13th, 2013 at the age of 77, in Puyallup, Washington. She was a 1953 graduate of Bethel High School. Shortly after high school, Joyce married the love of her life, Carl Wayne, who she lost only a few months ago. They lived in Puyallup for 58 years in the same house they bought as newlyweds.
She was an accomplished seamstress, and a talented painter. She also loved gardening, camping and reading. Additionally, she was a lifetime member of the Tacoma Motorcycle Club, holding several offices over the years, as well as a member of St. John of the Woods Catholic Church.
Joyce was happiest when surrounded by her large family. She was a mother to many and a friend to all, always offering a warm smile and a genuine hug. She is survived by her three sisters; her children, Laurel (Jeff) Samples of Puyallup, Gail of Tacoma/Gig Harbor, Larry (Kara) of Graham, Kevin of Puyallup; niece Anita of California; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and her husband. Joyce will be greatly missed by many friends and family.
A rosary service will be held at Powers Funeral Home, 320 W. Pioneer Ave, in Puyallup, at 7:00 pm on January 17th. The memorial service will be held Friday, January 18th at 11:00 am at St. John of the Woods Catholic Church at 9903 24th Ave East, Tacoma, WA.
