She was born in Tacoma on June 28th 1921 and was the youngest of six children born to Chris and Malvina Bullat. She was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Michal and both of her children, Kathleen Henley (Gary) and Daniel Michal. She is survived by four grandchildren: Rachel Olson (Russel), Nicolas Michal (Megan Roseman), Kahra Wahler (Benjamin Stoller), and Adam Henley (Cheramie) and fourteen great-grandchildren.
June was a lifelong resident of Puyallup and graduated from Puyallup High School in 1939. During the WWII years she and her sister Helen were employed at Ft. Lewis in the laundry department. June then worked briefly in Washington D.C. as a secretary, but decided to return to Puyallup to be closer to home and family. She married Andrew Michal Jr. in May of 1946 and together they built a new house in Puyallup where they raised their children and June lived out the majority of her life. Over the years she held various secretarial and managerial positions at Citizens State Bank, Alaska Airlines, and Boeing.
After the death of her husband in 1970 she began a 25 year love affair with traveling. She managed to cover six continents and numerous countries around the world, visiting relatives in Hungary and Serbia along the way.
June had a very generous heart and was always making her famous cabbage rolls to take to anyone who was ill. She and her sister also volunteered many hours baking and serving at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church for the Tacoma Greek Festival. Her feisty spirit, tenacity, and Orthodox faith saw her through the deaths of her husband, her beloved sister, and both children from cancer. She is finally at rest and reunited with all those she had missed so dearly.
