

Marvin Ellis, 93, was born Oct. 19, 1916 to Earl and Bertha Ellis in Akely, MN. Surrounded by his family in Eatonville, WA, he peacefully entered the presence of our Lord on May 29, 2010. He enrolled in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Cass Lake, MN Apr. 17, 1935 and served in that capacity until January 3, 1936. He served his country in the US Army from June 12, 1941 as a Staff Sergeant-Line Chief over a 20-man crew maintaining B-24 and B-29 Aircraft, and was honorably discharged Nov. 26, 1945. He met Lois E. McClellan in 1941 in Bemidji, MN and they married Oct. 2, 1942 in Albuquerque, NM. Always an avid fisherman, he held the record for the largest Muskie caught in Pike Bay, MN weighing in at 40lbs. He moved his lovely wife to Tacoma in 1945 and owned and operated Ellis's Garage, a Service Station/ Auto Repair Shop. In 1951 they joined the membership of Trinity United Methodist Church in Tacoma and worked to support the ministry there for many years. In early 1970, much to the amazement of his friends, Marvin sold the auto repair business and bought 20 acres in Graham. Over the next few years, he developed Marlo Manor (Meridian Terrace) Mobile Home Park. Marvin was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed old-time dancing, playing cards, horseshoes and gardening. Marvin is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Lois Ellis, brother Lyndon (Vivian) Ellis of Cass Lake, MN, daughter Susan (Mike) Byrd of Eatonville, son Scott (Molly) Ellis of Boise, ID, granddaughters Michelle (Matt) Dyer of Puyallup and Kastin Ellis and Danielle Ellis, both of Tacoma and 1 great granddaughter, Austyn Dyer. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 1:00PM at the United Methodist Church of Puyallup, 1919 W. Pioneer, Puyallup.
