

Mike Chimenti, 89 passed away peacefully in his sleep from Complications of Dementia at the Community Home Health & Hospice in Longview, WA. Mike was born to Vito Nicholas Chimenti and Saletta Maria Tronto Chimenti after she went into labor in a strawberry patch outside Spokane, WA.He served in the U.S. Army Infantry as a Private at the age of 17 and fought in the European Theater from 1943 until the end of WWII when he received his Honorable Discharge. He fell in love and married Jackie Martin of Capistrano, CA on January 16, 1946 at the Smith Tower in Seattle, WA. Mike supported his family as a trucker and a member of the Teamsters Union until he and his business partner Nick Jewett started their own Trucking Company, Metro Heavy Hauling in 1971. Mike became a member of the Washington Trucking Association and led the growth of a successful business until he retired in 1993. He and his wife Jackie enjoyed their time as snowbirds until returning to the Pacific Northwest to keep up with the busy lives of their grandkids.Mike is preceded in death by his parents Vito (Bari Italy) approximately 1933, Saletta (Spokane) 1942; his brother Johnny Chimenti approximately 1932; his sisters Grace Chimenti, Mary Frucci, Annette Salisbury, Rose Decker and Maggie Visintainer.Mike is survived by his loving wife of 69 years Jackie Chimenti; daughters Paulette Evans, Veta Bingham and Patty Chimenti; grandchildren Victor Chimenti, Lisa Olson, Billy Allsop, Byron Evans, Angela Foster, Dan Passig, and Mike Passig; great-grandchildren Jessica Blaylock, Aaron Pickett, Kersha Frank, Alesha Ellis, Katlynn Ellis, Ashlynn Passig, Dani Grace Passig, Isabella Passig, Bianca Passig and Nico Chimenti; and great-great grandchildren Acen Blaylock, Colin Pickett and Kersha Frank is expecting Baby Case in June.
