Robert Thomas Rugarber

Robert T. Rugarber, resident of Puyallup, WA, was born in Trenton, NJ and passed away in Seattle, WA on April 6, 2010. Bob grew up in Allentown, NJ. After graduating from Allentown High School, he joined the U.S. Navy and served on the aircraft carrier Hancock in Vietnam. Later he earned his bachelor’s degree in aeronautics from San Jose State University and his master’s degree from Embry-Riddle University.

Bob was an airline captain before he joined Boeing Company where he worked for over 20 years. He had recently been a senior safety officer for Boeing Flight Operations and an adjunct professor of aviation courses for Embry-Riddle University.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Norma, his daughter, Eve Rugarber Dean, and his son-in-law, James Dean. He is predeceased by his parents and his daughter, Ann Marie. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend and will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be April 12 and 1 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home in Puyallup with reception to follow.
