Catherine Joyce Davy was born on January 9th, 1932, in Jamaica, West Indies in the parish of Manchester to the late Eustace and Annabelle Davy. Catherine was the 6th of ten children. She was lovely known as Aunt Joyce to her nieces/nephew and Grammy to her grandchildren. Catherine went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 30,2021.
Before leaving Jamaica, she was employed by the Pickapeppa Factory in Kendal, Manchester for many years as an accountant. Joyce later migrated to the United States for a better life, better opportunities and to help provide for her daughter, Sandra Alison Lopez. Joyce met Cecil Barclay and got married and had one child, Cheryl Ann Barclay-Muir. Joyce and Cheryl then lived in Kings Plaza for many years in Brooklyn until they finally settled into a home in Queens, New York.
Joyce worked for Chemical Bank, now known as Chase, for over 25 years in the adjustment/control finance department. Joyce then later retired and helped with raising her grandchildren. She went on many trips and family vacations to Florida, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. She would even go on the small roller coasters with her grandkids like she was a big kid too. When we went to the restaurant it was always a table for seven and it was always a great time. She loved her flowers and was always meticulous in her ways. During the past 3 years we noticed a decline in her health, but she would always get right back up. We often said she has nine lives, even before her death. At the end I was so glad to be there. My mom never gave up on me and we have never given up on her. We love her always and will miss her dearly.
She was predeceased by her brothers Donald, Edgar, Evan, Astley and Kelvin Davy, and sisters Shirley Issacs, Marie Forrester and her first Great grandchild Jordan Zarate. She is survived by her sisters Lucille Green, Winifred Waugh, and Laura Wilson. She had two daughters Sandra Downey, Cheryl Barclay Muir and her son in laws Kevin Downey and Neal Muir Sr, which was like a son to her. Her Grandchildren are Sharena Downey, Alyssa Zarate, (husband) Josue Zarate, Neal Muir Jr, Alexis Muir , Candice Muir and Victoria Muir. Her great grandchildren are Adrien and Zoey. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Our hearts will always be filled with the love she gave us. Rest in peace mom till we meet again. The ones that love us never really leave us.
