While we did not get to know Dewey very well, the devotion he displayed to his family, especially to his wife and my Niece Barbara, set virtually an unreachable standard. Our deepest sympathy for the Brown Family. Take comfort in your many memories of a very special man.

My sadness on this occasion is great as Dewey Brown has departed this life. For me, Dewey was a true friend as well as a brother-in-law. Through our experiences together in college, during summer work and other occasions, Dewey was a caring and dependable friend and supporter, especially as we worked together one summer.
Therefore, I am truly saddened, but I also take solace in Dewey’s passing and in knowing that he lived a positive, productive and purposeful life.
My wife, Helene, joins me in extending condolences to family members and friends.

In my pre-teen days, I once made a flippant remark to my oldest sister about what I would do when I became a man. She responded that she wanted me to grow up to be more than just a man, that I should want to be a "gentle" man.

I am sure that I did not understand all that she meant at that time. However, I came to realize years later that she had sought such a man to be her husband. That gentle man we knew and loved as Dewey Brown.

As we mourn the passing of Dewey, I am comforted by the thought that he and my sister, Barbara, are reunited in the afterlife and that their gentle spirits will live in and through many of us for generations to come.

May the best of what they did and said continue to make us strive to honor the best in them and in all humanity.
