Along with my brother, Bill, I send condolences.  My parents, Sylvia and Harry were great friends of Doug's parents, Ann and Robbie. My deepest sympathy to the Robinson family.  My family and Doug's family were very close when I was growing up in Queens.  I remember Doug had the talent to fix anything that needed repaired.

R.I.P. my deepest sympathy to the family and friends of doug. Know that there is a place in Heaven for the people who do good on this earth.

Doug a wonder man, always doing for others, I remember he liked to collect things and was so very in to doing this. He was a big brother to me. Lost contact haven't seen him in some time. But I know he is going to a better place. I know I will meet him in Heaven. RIP BRO

I was only a kid... But Doug was my neighbor.. I played with his daughter and Eileen was a great friend to my mom. He was a sweet man and I can still hear his voice and his infectious laugh! My deepest condolences to the family! God bless!

My deepest sympathy to the Robinson family.  Doug was such a good guy, he would never refuse when asked to help with my house in QV. I have always known him to laugh and talk talk talk that is what made him so SPECIAL.  Eileen  and Doug raised 4 beautiful children of which will all miss you dearly. I remember Doug well, as a soft spoken man whose family Always came first.

His love of his wife and children was endless and was given Unconditionally.

I remember the joy in his eyes when he would great his wife and children with a big smile even at the end of a tiresome day.

It seems as if it was just yesterday.

I wish I had the words to ease your loss and sorrow at this time.

Doug Robinson left an indelible mark on my memory.  It was Nov. 9, 1965 and the beginning of rush hour.  I was en route home from St. John's U. and at the Jamaica RR Station when everything went dark.  No lights, no trains, no phones. I didn't know it then but it was the Great Northeast Blackout!  I was a sophomore and knew only Marilyn, Doug's sister from school.  I had visited once by car I think but didn't know the address, only more or less the direction of the family home.  Fortunately, I found a bus going in that direction and got off at a stop which looked familiar but I was traveling by visual memory only. The full harvest moon looked ominous because we had grown up with the threat of a Russian Communist invasion and this was surely what was happening!  Somehow I walked by houses which looked familiar and I knocked at the door of one.  Surprise!  It was the Robinsons!  Marilyn and her family welcomed this terrified, lost soul in.  No radio or tv.  I didn't know how my mother or brother were.  It was a nerve wracking situation for all of us as nothing like this had ever happened in the United States before but it was Doug who put me at ease by trying to teach me how to play chess.  In his quiet, calm way he expressed his pleasure in playing this game with everyone and gave me the basic rules and instructions. He helped me to refocus on a positive, fun activity.  What an incredible gift he had to be able to do this!  What kindness! I will continue to remember Doug in that moment in time. 

It is so sad that his life was cut short on this earth. To his family, please accept my deepest condolences for your loss of so dear a person.  You were all blessed to have him with you in your lives and now in the memories you share.  You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
