Farewell to my big sister from a little sister.

God is love. My heart is broken knowing we won’t see each other again to hug and burst into laughter. The bond we shared was truly profound, especially during the two weeks I spent with her in the U.S. before she passed. Her memory lives on in the stories we shared and the love we hold. In my quietest moments, I can still remember my sister. Despite the sorrow, I am filled with gratitude and joy, thanking God for the precious time we shared.

To Juilett, Dennis, Edward and the rest of the family, I know your heart is breaking with pain...lean on Jesus,and He will wipe away your tears and comfort you with His arms of love and understanding. He is the only one who can calm the storm, and give you rest from your burdens. When you are too weak to go on reach your hands out to God,and He will give you the strength to keep going.

Jeremiah 31:13 says God will turn their mourning into gladness, I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.Through every difficult circumstances, every trial, every loss, every heartache...lean on Jesus.

Our Lord and Saviour is full of love and compassion for His children!He will heal your brokenness, relieve your pain,dry your tears, and give you peace, comfort, and more joy than you have never known!

Today l want to honor the remarkable life of aunty Elsie Kowlessar who went home peacefully to be with the Lord.
One of my fondest memory of her, was leading in the singing in church. She was very at singing with her melodious voice.
What l admired most about her was her unwavering optimism even in the face of tough challenges, she remained resident, finding light in the darkest of moments and being a pillar of strength and a source of encouragement for all.
Though she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will continue to bloom in my heart, reminding me of the beauty and joy of life.
Now the labour's task is o' er
Now the battle day is past
Now upon the farther shore
Lands the voyager at last
Father, in thy gracious keeping

Juliet, I am deeply sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. My heart goes out to you and your family.

Auntie Elsie was a very good friend to me. I enjoyed conversing with her and perusing her latest dress materials that I  would purchase and made into fashionable dresses for my sister's.
I would miss her dearly.

Thank you for letting me be a part of your family.  Auntie Elsie was very dear to me. She was a friend and confidant. My memory of her always being beautifully dressed on Sundays as she entered Akashwani Church will stay with me forever. 
Her voice was unique, her melodious singing of hymns and bajans especially " gee wan ke roti." Her radiant smile and soft spoken words could move one to tears.
Her cooking was excellent, she baked the best sponge cake and made such succulent fish cakes.
When I would least expect my phone would ring and that was her nurturing way of checking up on me.
Her entire life was centered around family she taught us that being family is not all about sharing blood.
When God looked into His garden He saw His special rose was getting tired. He reached down, took her hand and led her to be with Him in Paradise. 
John 11: 25-26  Jesus said to her, " I'll am the resurrection and the life. The One who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die..Do you believe this. "
Goodbye Auntie Elsie continue to have sweet Communion with your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Dear Juliett and family, on behalf of myself and doc and his family, we are so sorry for the loss of your dear mom. Please accept our deepest sympathy, and hope you find comfort in the beautiful memories that you have of her. Personally, I’ve listened to you speaking of your mom, her strength, her kindness, and being strict with you and your siblings as children growing up in Guyana. We have lost “Our Auntie Elsie”!

Unfortunately, Auntie Elsie’s beloved husband passed away very untimely at an early age and she was left to care and provide for her young family. She was classy & dignified yet a masterful businesswoman. She was quiet, deeply insightful and religious with an unassuming, amazing sense of humor. As a steady rock of solid love Auntie Elsie remained steadfast in her values. 
As fate would have it, Auntie Elsie’s daughter, Juliett, is now married to our brother, Mike, and whenever Auntie Elsie spoke to him, we could still see that same twinkle in her eyes that she had with pappy.
All of our visits and times with her as children and even later as grown adults have always been a sweet trip down memory lane. After Mammy and Pappy passed away just a few years ago, she was still there – “Our Auntie Elsie”. A hug from her was like a hug from Mammy. Her witty comments were like a visit with Pappy. She remained deeply embedded in our hearts as a connection to our parents’ generation and all of their memories together.
Already we miss her deeply.

We have lost “Our Auntie Elsie”!
We are the children of Bill & Lochani Sukhraj [our Pappy & Mammy]
Our hearts are bleeding in a wide variety of ways - the last of our parents’ generation has now moved on to the next world and so as siblings and our spouses we have transitioned into being the ‘Older Generation’. 
All of our early years took place on the Essequibo Coast of Guyana until we emigrated to New York in the 1970s.
We have known our Auntie Elsie since we were little children and our connection has had very deep roots. She grew up in the same village as Mammy. Since Auntie Elsie was little, her family and Mammy’s family were extremely close..…actually, they knew each other very well as little girls. Mammy has shared very sweet girlish memories of them that we as children enjoyed hearing. Auntie Elsie’s parents were present the day Pappy came to ask for Mammy’s hand in marriage.  Her parents gave the stamp of approval that he was a distinguished and respectable gentleman.
As it turns out, Pappy knew Auntie Elsie since she was a baby and she was like a little sister to him. We have many vivid memories of their relationship through his stories and even in person. After she was married and whenever he travelled to her village, he would make it a point of visiting her home. He would arrive with such joy to see her and her family. We can even remember during our parents later years in the US that whenever Pappy met up with her that joy was still there. Both of them would reminisce of their youthful days and one could still hear giggles upon giggles from both of them as they shared memories of bygone days with each other. [continued...]

Tribute
Today we gather to celebrate the life of our dear mother aunty Elsie Kowlessar, a beacon of kindness and strength whose laughter could light up the darkest of days. She was the embodiment of patience, always lending an ear and offering advice with a gentle touch.
She was an excellent cook. I remember the times we had "Food Sale" for the church, she made the best sponge cake, delicious buns and cassava pone to name a few. She will have these delicious eatables neatly covered and have it, just waiting for us to uplift. Then she will leave for the Charity market where she ply her trade as a business woman.
We refer to her to her as our Lata Mangeshkar for her melodious singing.
She was an excellent seamstress who made our dresses for the  Christmas concerts. 
Aunty Elsie will forever be remembered for her unwavering love and dedication to our Akashwani (A Voice from Heaven) Church Family creating memories that will live on in our hearts.
As we bid farewell , we hold onto the cherished moments and lessons she imparted, knowing her legacy of love will endure eternally. 
Goodbye, dear aunty Elsie your spirit will forever guide us.

Sincere condolences to Juliet and all the members of Auntie Elsie’s family.  Auntie Else was related to my Dad’s stepmother, Cilla.  I remember her visiting our home at Zeeburg whenever she visited Cilla.  She was always gracious and kind.  The one thing that always struck me whenever I saw her in later life was that she never aged.  She was evergreen.  Rest in peace Auntie Elsie in the arms of your Loving God and Father.
