My dear departed brother,
Even though, life circumstances kept us apart, I can't ever forget all the good times we had during our teenage years. I kept on reminiscing about our trips to Thorland during the summer vacations, when there was nothing to do.
I remember our participation in "Diabolo" on Sunday morning during the mardi-grass season and in "Orthophonic" at night enjoying the" Marriage pou 10¢" deal.
Our trip to Jacmel came, to mind. We swam in Raymond -les-bains and "Bassin Blue. We took that makeshift transport truck, you called "The Satellite" because we were way up on the roof top,15 to16 feet above ground
You taught me, how to ride a bicycle. I learned some mechanic tricks from you, starting with bike and end up in car repair.
I remember the fun we had, during the festivals at "Institut Francais", dancing at Pigalle, or even at Djoumbala.
We came to the USA together, in the middle of winter, it was a shock to both of us. We lived across the Hudson River, during the brutal days of winter, we had to walk backward, to protect our faces, going down that slope between Broadway and Riverside.
After a while, you decided to join the Army and you were sent to Viet-Nam. You came back a different man. I don't know whether or not, it had to do with the war atrocities you witnessed there. We never talked about that.
You were always there, giving an helping hand, when I needed help to fix something, whether it was a handyman or a mechanical job. It was in your genes helping others.
Without rhyme and reason you decided to move back to Haiti. I think it was a mistake, but who am I to judge? You said you were happy there, that was very important to you.
Dear brother, it is not easy to accept the way your life ended. We are all travelers and one day we will reach our final destination for sure. But, the trip ends in a better way for others.

Adieu mon frere,
You will be missed

Dad, words can't express how much I'll miss you. Even though we didn't see each other every day, it was comforting to know that you were just a phone call away. I'm grateful for all of the good times we spent together and all of the sacrifices you made for us. You'll be forever missed.

Love you always,
Your daughter

Dear Uncle. It saddens my heart you’ve left us so soon. Your rosy smile was always contagious. You had such energy and was always the life of the party. No one could compete with your ability to dance low, low, low on the dance floor!

You will be missed.

Rest in Peace. Give Grandma a hug and kiss for me.

Love,

Your Niece Marquise

You could not find a nicer soul. Ti Nèst Destiné epitomized the Gentleman notion of evryday's interactions. I recalled vividly the steps he took to help me secure my NY driver's license. He had a large Car, a Chevrolet Caprice nicknamed :" Loodie " because the car was always carrying some heavy loads. In 1978, Destiné did let me use Loodie for the NY DMV Road Test in the area of Flatlands close to Sunny-Dale, paving the way for my first Driver License some 41 years ago. Ti Nèst would, on many occasions, neglects his own household chores to lend a hand to friends in need. He surely will be missed by many !!! Bon voyage Comrade, Bonne route. May you rest in greener pastures in the land of your Creator. Heartfelt Condolences to the Destiné's family. Requiescat in pace vieux poulain!!!
