Estaelle Marcelin, affectionately known as “Tata,” passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, at the age of 94. She was born on February 18, 1931, in Saint-Raphaël, Haiti, the second of five children born to her late parents, Herodia Kerolle and Saintilmar Marcelin.
Tata lived a long and meaningful life marked by love, faith, and devotion to her family. She was a woman of strength and quiet resilience, whose generous heart touched everyone around her. Known for her compassion, courage, and strong sense of family, she embodied grace and humility throughout her life.
She found great joy in caring for others and was happiest when surrounded by her loved ones. Her warm spirit, wise counsel, and gentle humor will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. She was also well known for her delicious cooking—especially her famous “dous mamba” (peanut butter fudge)—which became a sweet symbol of her love and hospitality.
Even in her later years, Tata never stopped thinking of others. She had an incredible memory for birthdays and made it her mission to celebrate each one with love and affection. Her thoughtfulness and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she touched.
Estaelle leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her loving family:
• Daughters: Eugenie Laurore, Ida Lacrose, and Guerda Saintil
• Son: Frantz Saintil
• Sons-in-law: Ockil Lacrose and Feker Larose
• Daughter-in-law: Viola Destin
She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Ivena, Jeffney, Woodly, Wendell, Wadley, and Woochi, and a cherished great-grandmother to Waldeina, Gabriel, Semiirah, Zekiah, and Atharah.
She was predeceased by her beloved siblings: Napoleon Marcelin, Marcellus Marcelin, Nasson Marcelin, and Pierre Kerolle.
She will be deeply missed by her cousins, nephews, and nieces, along with a host of other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
Tata’s life was one of love, faith, and service. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her. Though she is gone from our sight, her spirit and legacy of kindness will forever remain with us.
May her soul rest in eternal peace
