Everald Gayle was born in St. Thomas, Jamaica, and his family moved to Kingston. There, he went to Reginald Aitkens, a trade school, to become a skilled welder. His specialized skills took him to work for Kelly Engineering and Jamaica Bauxite Mining.
In 1966, he went abroad to the Virgin Islands to build tanks. Six years later, the Chicago Bridge and Iron Company recruited him, bringing him to the United States. He was proud to join the Steamfitters Union.
Spanning countless welding projects in several countries, those who worked with him revered him. He retired in 1997.
In 1964, he met and married Elaine Barnett in Kingston. The Lord blessed them with six children, five boys and one daughter. He instilled in them a spirit of excellence. He would often say, “Always do your best in whatever you do.”
Everald was a private person who enjoyed his solitude. He didn’t receive the wealth he desired but lived with exceptional health. His mantra was to take care of your mind, body, and spirit. And to be grateful.
The Lord requested his presence home on Thursday, September 11, 2025.
He is survived by his six children: Hugh, Gary, Patrick, O’Neil, Richard, and Bridgett, as well as grandchildren, great grandchildren, and daughters-in-law.
A visitation will be held at R. Stutzmann & Son, located at 224-39 Jamaica Ave, Queens Village, NY 11428, on September 18, 2025, from 9:45 am to 10:45 am. The funeral service will follow at the same location from 10:45 am to 12:00 pm.
