

Frantz Balmir was born on August 6, 1937 to the late Marie Balmir in Jeremie, Haiti. He was the eldest of five siblings, Serge, Roger, the late Andre and Immacula. Frantz started his elementary education at Frères de L’instructions Chrétienne a Jeremie, Sud d’Haiti. Frantz was sent to Port Au Prince to further his education under the tutelage of his late aunt Elina Balmir, he attended high school at Lycée Antenor Firmin. Frantz also completed his professional Electrical Engineering education at College J.B. Damien.
Frantz met his wife, Augusta Denis in Port au Prince and were married on April 8, 1961.
Frantz emigrated to the United States in November of 1969.
Upon arrival in America Frantz started his career in the maintenance department at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY. During his employ at North Shore, Frantz obtained his licensure as an engineer in the state of New York. Frantz worked for North Shore University Hospital for over two decades before retiring in 1992 as the Assistant Chief Engineer.
Frantz had six children, Marie, late Dr. Frantzie, Magalie, Reginald, Sandra and Doris. Frantz is survived by his wife Augusta Balmir, his children Marie Giordani, Magalie Bowen, Reginald Adam, Sandra Balmir and Doris Dorilas, grandchildren Shandarah Banjo, Eugene Giordani, Savannah Bowen, Averie Bowen, Gabrielle Bowen, Erik Beauvais, Van Lee Adam, Rubens Adam, Reginal Adam and great grandchild Samiah Banjo.
Frantz is also survived by his siblings Dr.Serge Balmir, Roger Balmir and Immacula Legagneur and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
