Beloved aunt to Linda, Gertie's god-daughter and Matthew (Matt).
As the years went by Gertie met the love of her life, Jacob (Jack). They fell in love and "tied the knot" on May 6, 1956. Three years later, Gertie was blessed with her first born, Laura. Fourteen months later, double trouble came along - TWINS, Diane and Carol.
Life was busy for Gertie but she always had time for her family and friends. Gertie's family and friends were her world and she would so anything for them. As the years went by and Gertie's girls married she and Jack now had the sons they never had - Tommy (Laura), Kenny (Diane) and Roman (Carol).
With the girls finally out of the house, it was now time for just her and Jack - retirement. Gertie did not like to fly so vacations were via car with Jack as her private chauffeur. Jack was a history buff which drove her up a wall but she never complained, well, maybe to herself, like the time they drove to Virginia in a heat wave.
The golden years were truly golden for Gertie as her loving and cherished grandchildren came along - Jessica, Kenny, Amanda and Timothy. Gertie's eyes would always light up when the grandchildren were around.
After Jack's passing in 1999, Gertie continued their monthly "get-aways" to Atlantic City with their best friends for many years, Dorothy and Sonny.
The little things in life Gertie enjoyed like reading, doing the NY Daily News crossword puzzle (with her dictionary by her side), gardening, which she never really had a green thumb, but she tried. A real baseball fan, Gertie would always root for her beloved YANKEES, even when they were in a slump.
Gertie had a full life and even at the end was a real fighter. Gertie may no longer be with us but she will live in our hearts forever.
God Bless.
