Jim and I met July 1981, we got assigned the same police academy class and we latched on to each other from that day forward. We worked together for years and then went onto separate career paths but always stayed in touch. He would come by my house in Brooklyn with the kids and I would always stop by Winchester Blvd. when in the area and have lunch together. I miss him already, I miss our phone calls, mostly about the job or sometimes about nothing. I miss his thumbs up sign and his constant smile and wicked sense of humor. I couldn't wait to see what military or NYPD lapel pin or hat he would be wearing when we met at the monthly Emerald Society meetings. In every essence of the word he was a true, true friend to me and I will think about him always. A big Thank You to his family for letting this man into my life 37 years ago, I am a much better person, husband and dad for just knowing Jim.

My sincere condolences to the Curran Family. Jimmy was a great guy and a true American. I have many fond memories with him over the years that have gone by too fast. I first met him at West Point while working a football game. We attended Tuesday night NCO Meetings at the Sly Fox, summer camps, Egypt, & Desert Storm. Farewell old friend !

Jimmy was a true leader in and out of uniform. He was a master in organization and knew how to motivate not only the soldiers under his command, but also his peers. When times were down during deployment to Desert Storm he always managed to keep his soldiers upbeat. I am so proud and honored to have known Jimmy, he will be truly missed. God bless him and God bless his family.
