Joseph Bauer

Joseph (Joe) Bauer died peacefully at the Hospice Inn in Melville, NY on March 22, 2016 at the age of sixty.

Joe is survived by his mother Ann Bauer, daughters, sons-in law and grandchildren: Leslie, Ian and Eleanor Frey and Erin, Chris and Victoria Davis. As well as his beloved first cousins Louise Rotchford and John, Jimmy, Dennis and Joe Heaphy and thier children.

Joe was born in Queens New York on October 9, 1955 to Ann Bauer. He attended St. Gregory's grammer school and graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1973. He spent the majority of his professional career as a claims adjuster in marine insurance, and has worked at Zurich America since 1999. Joe had Leslie and Erin with their mother Marta and they remember him as an extrodinarily fun and supportive father.

Joe's hobbies included helping others, making people laugh and being batman. He spent much of his adult life as a member and support for others in a twelve step program and was sober nearly fourteen years at the time of his death. Joe believed that charity began at home and never hesitated to help another person. He loved his pet cats and adopted a number of them throughout the years that neded a place to stay and would have otherwise wound up in a shelter.

The funeral is planned for Monday March 28th 9:45am at St. Gregory the Great 242-20 88th Ave. in Bellerose, NY. viewings will be held at R. Stutzmann & Son Funeral Home 224-39 Jamaica Ave Queens Village, NY on Friday March 25th and Saturday March 26th 2 - 4pm and 7 - 9pm both days. Joe lived his life with an open heart and an open door and would surely be happy to have his frineds and family celebrating his life together. The family would like to thank Dr. Brian McNilis and his staff, the Hospice Care Network and The Hospice Inn for their care.
