Joshua Jean-Max Woodland

Joshua Jean-Max Woodland was a beloved son, a cherished friend, and a gifted young craftsman whose life touched so many people. He passed away on August 17, 2026 at the tender age of 22, leaving behind memories that will forever be treasured by those who knew and loved him.

Born in Queens, New York, Joshua was the only son of Carline Cyrille and Joseph Woodland. He attended Thomas Edison High School before continuing his education at trade school, where he studied and was certified in welding and plumbing. Although he worked hard and gained valuable skills, he eventually realized that his true passion lay elsewhere. Joshua dreamed of becoming an electrician, and he had recently been accepted into an internship program that was scheduled to begin in the fall. He was excited about this new opportunity and the future he was beginning to build for himself.

Joshua had a natural talent for working with his hands. He was truly a master of many trades, with an ability to look at a motorbike, an engine, or almost anything mechanical and figure out how to bring it back to life. He spent countless hours repairing and working on motorbikes, taking pride in every project he completed. Once the work was finished, there was nothing he enjoyed more than getting out and riding. He also had a deep passion for skateboarding, and anyone who had the opportunity to watch him ride could see just how talented he was. Flushing Meadows Park was his safe haven and favorite place to skate, it was there that he felt truly free, gliding through the park and pulling off tricks that left onlookers in awe.

Yet Joshua's greatest gift was not what he could build or repair, but the love and kindness he gave to the people around him. He was a bright young man with a warm heart who cared deeply for his family and friends. He was someone people could count on, and he never hesitated to be there for those he loved.

Joshua is survived by his parents, Carline Cyrille and Joseph Woodland; his grandmothers, Marie Ghislaine Cyrille and Doris Woodland; his godparents, Jackie Prophete and Judith Cyrille (Aunt); his uncles, Marcoli Cyrille, Maxime Cyrille, and Thomas Woodland; his aunts, Sondra Cole, Pamela Woodland, Gladys Woodland-Burton, and Gloria Marshall; his cousins; and the many relatives and friends who were blessed to know him.

Joshua's life was far too short, and his passing leaves an immeasurable emptiness in the hearts of those who loved him. Though he is no longer with us, the memories he created, the love he shared, and the mark he left on the lives of others will remain. His light will continue to shine through everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Forever loved. Forever remembered.

Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Friday, August 21, 2026 from 4-8pm. The funeral mass will be held at Incarnation RC Church (Queens Village, NY) on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 10:30am. Cremation is private.
