Mrs. Ming Ju Wang was born in 1941 in Hunan Province, China. She was the eldest of seven children, with 2 sisters and 4 brothers. As a young child, she lived through the Japanese invasion, the Chinese Civil War, and years of displacement before her family settled in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. A bright and diligent student, she earned honors in school and placed second in a school wide calligraphy competition. Accepted to both Kaohsiung's All-Girl High School and the National Defense Medical Center, she chose the latter to help ease her family’s financial burden. During her studies, she proudly marched in the National Day military parade—an unforgettable moment of pride.
During the third year of her nursing internship, she met the man who would become her lifelong partner. After graduating in 1961, she served at the Army General Hospital No. 2 in Kaohsiung. Two years later, the couple married and began building a life grounded in devotion, sacrifice, and love. After four years of military service, she decided to retire and dedicate herself full-time to raising her three children.
In 1973, her husband, Dr Chien Kuang Wang, immigrated to the United States, and one year later she brought their children to New York, reuniting the family and beginning the next chapter of their journey. Initially a homemaker, she later returned to her nursing profession, working alongside her husband in their private pediatric practice in New York City's Chinatown once the children were older. In time, she came to share her husband’s Christian faith, and together they devoted much of their lives to serving their church community.
Mrs. Wang is survived by her children, Dale Wang, Jennifer Lee and Wendy Wang Niles, grandchildren Marisa Lee, Patricia Wang, Brendan Niles and Katelyn Niles.
