Philip George Lewis (affectionately known as Burke or Melda) was born on September 7, 1953 in Richmond District, Manchester, Jamaica. He was the eighth of eleven children born to the late Victor and Etheline Lewis.

Philip attended Richmond Primary School in Manchester. After completing his elementary education, he enlisted in The Third Battalion Jamaica Regiment. After leaving the military, he went on to further his education as an apprentice to become an electrician for which he had a passion.

Philip married his soulmate, Erica Lewis on June 23, 1983 in Manchester, Jamaica. Together they have one daughter Roshelle who he loved dearly. He was a dedicated husband, father and family man.

In 1986, Philip immigrated to New York, USA. He was employed at Rochdale Village (Queens, NY) for 25 years. Philip retired in 2016 and longed to return permanently home to Jamaica, where he had made frequent visits since emigrating.

Philip departed from this life on Sunday April 5, 2020, in his home in Cambria Heights, NY. Philip was preceded in death by his siblings: Hubert and Edgar. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife Erica Lewis, his daughter Roshelle and stepdaughter Charmaine; Brothers: Winston and Neville; Sisters: Orlue, Fegina (Jean), Esileni (Essie), Valda, Marjorie (Myra) and Neresa; many nieces and nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. He will be dearly missed. May his soul rest in peace and perpetual life shine upon him.
