Virginia Nealon

Virginia Nealon, beloved daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, October, 19, 2021, after a long battle with breast cancer.

Virginia, or Ginny as she was usually called by family and close friends, was born and raised in Queens Village, NY. The daughter of Bob and Regina Nealon, Virginia attended Our Lady of Lourdes School and Martin Van Buren High School. She later earned a BA from Queens College in Communications. Virginia worked many places while putting herself through school, but once complete she began working at AMC/Rainbow Network as a Master Controller.

Virginia was known by all who knew her as a loving, friendly soul, who always put forth a smile and open heart to the world. First diagnosed with cancer in 2005, Virginia fought an ogoing battle with metastatic breast cancer for more than 16 years. All while keeping a smile on her face and enjoying the simple things in life, like spending time with her nieces and nephews, gardening, PB&J sandwiches, and the joy of a new bag of tootsie rolls. Virginia fought with the grace, faith and strength of a true warrior, and now she returns home to rest in the house of the Lord. She will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her.

Virginia is survived by her wonderful mother Regina, and her brothers Robert Jr. and his wife Cynthia, Patrick and his wife Kathleen, Sean and his wife Veronica, Christopher and his wife Anne, Matthew and his wife Kathleen, and her sister Mary and her husband David Myles. Virginia is also survived by her nieces and nephews who brought her the most joy; Jessica and her husband Vincent, Caroline, Goddaughter Elizabeth, Brianna, Timothy, Shannon, Christoper, John, Brian, Sean, Godson Stephen, Anna, Mairead, Mateo, Goddaughter Caitlin, and great-nephews Nicholas and Robert, and great-niece Aisling.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations in Virginia's memory to the Rett Syndrom & Our Lady of Lourdes Food Pantry.

I was always honored to share my name with Virginia. The first time anyone had my name. I had a special relationship with her and followed her along her path in life . She is now at rest with her beloved father . Her family was always there for her. She will be missed but never forgotten.
