

Yolanda was born on April 8 to Rose Petit and was raised by her stepfather Felix Petit in Okap. She migrated to the United States in 1970. She later on started a family with an honorable and noble man named JC Hector and together raised two beautiful children in Brooklyn New York. Later on they purchased their first home in Uniondale, New York. During that time they hosted numerous parties, events and gatherings at the house. She always encouraged her children to be loving, humble, kind and forgiving towards others. She strived to give them a good education. Yolanda worked hard and she partied even harder. Throughout her 25 years of working within the hospitality industry she received numerous awards. In 1982, 83 and 84 she was the Regional Service Champion representing The Omni Berkshire and The New York Palace. She had excellent work ethic and she was always punctual for work. In 2001 she took early retirement from the hospitality industry and she pursued other endeavors which included: working for Macy’s, working with school age children and also caring for the elderly. Her love for life emanated from her smile which was always heartfelt. The love she had for her family and friends were incalculable. Yolanda lived a fruitful life.
When it came time to step out on the town her sense of fashion was stylish, chic and elegant. She loved to wear fine clothes, jewelry and she loved beautiful shoes. She had a great personality and she loved life. She was known for her acts of kindness by opening her heart and home to friends and strangers. She provided counseling, shelter and food to those in need. This was the essence of Yolanda. The spirit that moved her compelled her to help others. In doing so, she would take on the problems of others and at times neglecting her own issues. She wouldn’t have it any other way. Selfless, Bold, Charismatic and very loving describes Yolanda’s character. In 2003 she joined Victory in Christ where she was surrounded by loving brothers and sisters in Christ. She took her Bible studies very seriously and she was always taking notes. She also helped sponsor The Orphanage School of Good Samaritan in Jacmel. Furthermore, she became a member of the organization CompAssion Roads. She was always praying and singing to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Yolanda had a vibrant energy about her and that reflected everywhere she went. In 2007 she purchased her second home in Georgia. She briefly traveled in Europe, Canada and Puerto Rico. Yolanda loved her grandchildren very much and was always talking about them. Due to a brief battle with sickness she exchanged physical life for an eternal life where she returned back home on September 26 2014. She will be dearly missed but she will never be forgotten. Yolanda leaves behind many family and friends whom she cherished and loved. Yolanda, we your family and friends will always love you and miss you too.
