Allen was, and will forever be a very special and unique friend. He marked many phases of my life by showing me how to appreciate so much beauty surrounding us. Our times at work were often challenging, yet the bond we created through our friendship provided a partnership that strengthened us and those around us. Allen was great at problem solving, and was very humble about it. His life long hobby of fish tanks was a gift for me. He was a master of aquarium keeping, and I owe everything I know of this hobby to him. He also helped me better understand the Boston Chinese dynamics, how to navigate Chinatown, and how to eat Chinese food, Chinese style... Above all he loved his family, and loved God like a true Christian. Was afraid of nothing, was a gentle man, and knew how to control his emotions, never showing disrespect, never being impatient, always with a genuine smile. I can hear his friendly laugh right now as I type these words. He was a very kind man, a great human being, or as I used to call him at work, he was "Master So"... I will miss you from my heart good friend.

I met Allen So while working at New England Medical Center. I was immediately struck by his sense of humor and curiosity. He always had ideas and helpful suggestions, he was a pleasure to work with. At the time when the Massachusetts Medical Interpreters Association (MMIA) was in it's infancy he created, in his free time, the first ever MMIA website from scratch. Deep somewhere in the highly complex IMIA website his original structure is no doubt still holding it all up. My deepest sympathies go to his family who have lost such a wonderful husband and father.

I met a Allen and Lai at Umass. We were young, happy and skinny 😀 Then I moved to California and we went separate ways . This sweet couple haven’t forgotten me and keep sending Christmas cards year after year. Knowing that our friendship is still burning in the fire of love has given me comfort and happiness. Two years ago I got to visit Boston and reunited with Allen and Lai. They also came to California one year later. We shared old and new memories . Allen has always been a gentleman and loving person 😘 Allen and I both love Lai from the moment we met in college and until we meet again in eternity 😇
