OBITUARY

Argenis Tavarez

September 23, 1983June 12, 2020

It is with deep sadness that we share the news that our beloved Argenis Tavarez passed away on Friday, June 12, 2020. His unexpected death comes as a shock to us all and has left us with more questions than answers. In his 36 years on this earth, Argenis managed to bring a smile to the lives of everyone around him. He was loving, kind and devoted to his family — a role model to his nephews and a confidant for many.

We will miss his genuine spirit and his lively personality. Still, we are comforted by the many memories we made together and by the knowledge that though his death was untimely, his life was well lived. He is survived by his mother Felicia Castillo, father Manolo Tavarez, his siblings Aralis Tavarez, Manolo Tavarez Jr, Lenin Tavarez, Raymundo Tavarez and Carolin Tavarez, his nephews Daelen and Kalel Mejia and countless aunts, uncles, and cousins.

We will have a wake to honor him, on Friday, June 19, 2020 from 4-8pm at: Deware Funeral Home 576 Hancock Street Quincy, MA 02170

Many of you have asked how you can help, we ask that you please do what your heart desires. Also those interested in honoring his memory through the love that he had for children can make a donation in his name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Donations can be made online or via mail to 501 St. Jude’s Place Memphis, TN, 38105.

There are so few words that seem appropriate to express my deepest sympathies to the Tavarez Family. In the short time I knew Argenis, he always talked about his Mom, sister and nephews- I could tell how much he loved and cared about all of you, he was a protector of all. Argenis participated in a book club with me reading the book "Great at Work". He always wanted to be the best manager, best boss and best person- learning and improving was in his DNA. His passion for being the best and seeing the best in all of us, was a gift and is passed on to all of us who knew him. He will continue to be in our hearts and minds, and he expects the best from all of us - I plan to try and live up to his standard to honor his life - I know he is rooting for all of us and sending his love.

Argenis my heart is heavy and my eyes are flooded with tears , I keep telling myself I'm dreaming . As the sadness becomes reality I find myself remembering precious moments . I will forever cherish the laughter and happiness we shared . You were not only my boss you were a friend and a confidante . I thank you for the words of wisdom and encouragement through the years . You saw the best in me and always reassured me that I was progressing in my work and have expressed how proud you were on numerous occasions . When times were hard you encouraged me to never give up and pushed me to be the best i can be . Because of you I have come a long way in my career . When in doubt i will always hear your words " You know what you are doing stop second guessing yourself i trust you " . I thank you from the bottom of my heart for always making time for me in times of need . whether i needed someone to vent to or a shoulder to cry on , and some days I just needed a hug and you never turned me away . No one can ever replace you . Argenis you will forever hold a special place in my heart .

**** Until we meet again BOSS

I cannot eloquently put my feelings into words, however I needed to share how tragic it is that the world lost one of the kindest people I've ever met. I worked closely with Argenis to develop new procedures for Massachusetts, every single time we interacted it was not only a joy but he always made things better for as many people as he possibly could. You simply can't teach people to be like Argenis, he was a gift and he will be dearly missed. Deepest condolences to all of his family and friends, as even in our professional relationship I quickly came to realize how much he loved you all.

I struggle to find the right words to tell you, his family, who we knew—at MAXIMUS—Argenis to be. I can’t quite imagine the deep sadness you feel, as his family, because I know how deeply affected we are. It’s unimaginable because he was so... alive... so authentically present... so giving and contributing. It’s impossible for us to believe that he is gone... so the depth of absence you must feel is inconceivable.

He may be the greatest testament to you and the rest of your family that anyone could be. We are so grateful for having known him and worked with him... and while you knew him better and longer than any one of us could, I wish you could have ALSO known him as the colleague, manager, employee, and friend that we knew him to be.

I’m with you in spirit, hoping for peace and comfort to surround you tonight...

Tigre,

My heart fell to my stomach when I heard we loss such a beautiful soul. You were so caring, empathetic & understanding. There were a handful of times where I felt discouraged at work & you were there to hear me vent & cry it out. You were truly an angel at MAXIMUS. Always made sure I walked out of your office with a smile. I'm going to miss passing by your office in the mornings for our random talks & seeing your over the top biddazzled loafers. You will be truly missed Tigre, may God hold you in his Mercy. My deepest condolences to his family.

My deepest condolences to Argenis’s family; I am so sorry for your loss. Argenis was my coworker and my friend. I am grateful that I was able to tell him how much I’ve missed our talks over these last few months, and so sad that I now can’t tell him all the ways he was so important to me. His ability to see people’s strengths and communicate to them how to see those features in themselves was unique. I’m better for having known him and I will miss him very much.
