Cheuk-Sum Lau

November 21, 1944February 18, 2019

Cheuk-Sum (Sam) Lau, age 74, of Braintree, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019. He was the beloved husband of Wah-Lay (Margaret) Wong Lau; devoted father of Vincent Lau, Regina Lau Chang and her husband Allen Chang; and loving grandfather of Alyssa Chang and Ryan Chang. He also leaves behind brothers and sisters and countless nephews and nieces in New England and Canada.

Born in Taishan, China and trained to be an elementary school teacher, Cheuk-Sum immigrated to Boston with his parents and siblings in the 1960s. In the United States, he worked as a bartender, a metallurgist, and ultimately an inspector for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts before retiring. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and travel with the family, especially on cruises. He would also spend time watching YouTube videos to catch up on the latest in Chinese entertainment. Cheuk-Sum believed that family was most important and that is what he leaves as his legacy to his children and grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to join the family during visiting hours from 8:00AM to 10:30AM on Saturday, February 23 at Deware Funeral Home, 576 Hancock Street, Quincy, MA 02170.
