

Elouise A. Troup of Quincy and Braintree passed away peacefully at home with her family on the morning of April 15, 2014. She was a retired realtor and real estate appraiser who owned and operated “Elouise Troup Real Estate” for over 40 years. She was past president of the Quincy and South Shore Board of Realtors and the Quincy Toastmistress Club as well as the education chairman that helped plan educational seminars. She was the director of the Massachusetts Association of Real Estate Board, a Braintree Town meeting member from 1970-1978, Deputy Assessor of the Town of Braintree from 1971-1976 which lead to being elected as the Town of Braintree Assessor. She was also elected the coveted title of realtor of the year. Other activities included her work on the convention committee and the program and conference committee for the state association, participation in the Make America Better committee, a past member of the Quincy and South Shore Chamber of Commerce, she was active in the Heart Fund campaign, and a past member of the finance committee of Bethany church as well as the Fellowship Club. Other qualifications included M.R.A designation granted by the Mass. Board of Real Estate Appraisers and a Trustee of the Mass Board of Real Estate Appraisers.
She was born in Quincy on August 30, 1922. Her parents Bertha and Oscar Peterson were both from Sweden and moved here in their teenage years. She is also the sister of the late Doris Salvucci. She attended both Quincy and Braintree public schools and graduated from Braintree High School.
She was married to the late Richard W. Troup for 59 years. During WWII, she worked at the Brooklyn Navy Yard where her husband was stationed as a lieutenant junior grade. During their marriage, they enjoyed boating and cruising to Cape Cod. They kept their boat at Braintree Yacht Club where her husband was a past commodore.
Mrs. Troup is survived by her son Richard S. Troup, four grandchildren: Deborah Carlson, Kristen Meleedy, Jennifer Troup, and Ericka Troup and five great grandchildren and was the mother of the late Lorraine Troup Walsh. Sister of the late Bert Peterson. .
There will be a memorial service at Bethany Congregational Church 18 Spear Street Quincy on Friday April 18th at 2:00 p.m. A gathering at the home of her granddaughter Jennifer Troup will immediately follow.
