John Peter Brewer of Quincy, died at age 97, on August 1, 2025. He was born on February 27, 1928 and married for 64 years to the late Ann (Wilberding) Brewer. He is survived by his children: Elisabeth Brewer Strachan and her husband John, Clark Brewer and his partner Jenny, his grandchildren: John and Scott Strachan, Faustina, Phebe, and Lucy Brewer.
Known as Pete, Peter, Uncle Pete, Grandfather, and Dad, he was a hardworking but selfless man who supported and encouraged those around him. He worked at the Associated Press as a newsman for 40 years. He was an experienced sailor and a long-time Catboat Association member. Family was deeply important to him. He was one of the most patient, thoughtful, and kind people you could know.
