Kai is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Nina Pang; his devoted daughters Linda Lam and Helen Lam; and his younger siblings George Lam, Fong Chan, and Jeff Lam all whom he cherished deeply as the eldest in the family.
He was born in Guangzhou, China on July 23, 1951 to loving parents Yau Lung Lam (father) and Ching Han Lee (mother). In 1962, he moved with his family to Hong Kong where he enjoyed his childhood riding his bicycle and playing soccer with his siblings.
Kai immigrated to the United States in 1986 and settled in Boston, MA where he built a life centered on hard work, family, and community. He had brought over a decade’s experience working in the restaurant business in Hong Kong to the U.S. where he worked with pride and dedication as a well-respected head chef at the Marriott Hotel in Copley Place for over 20 years, and he earned the respect of his colleagues and customers alike.
A true-family man, Kai was deeply devoted to providing for his loved ones and building a stable, nurturing home. He took great pride in his two successful daughters, Linda and Helen, and everything they accomplished. He was always there to lend a helping hand. Kai loved nothing more than spending time with his family whom he considered his greatest joy and closest friends.
He also had a deep love for sports, especially soccer, basketball, and football. Kai rarely missed an opportunity to discuss as well as watch the big games with his siblings and daughters. A few of his everyday pleasures in life were enjoying his Dunkin’ hot coffee coupled with reading the daily newspaper, watching the local news on TV, and listening to music. Kai will forever be remembered for his kindness, patience, calm demeanor, family-oriented nature, and unwavering love for his family. His gentleness and wisdom were gifts to everyone who knew him.
All friends and family are invited to his funeral service at the Deware Funeral Home at 576 Hancock St, Quincy, MA 02170 on Saturday, August 9, 2025 from 11AM to 2PM (ET) to honor and celebrate Kai Kwong Lam’s life and legacy.
