It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Kathy Yiu (Kwok), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left us peacefully in Massachusetts after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 77.
Born in Hong Kong, China, Kathy grew up surrounded by a close-knit family and strong values that guided her throughout her life. She began her career as a dedicated school teacher, shaping young minds with patience and care. In the 1980s, she immigrated to the United States, where she built a new life with her husband, Jack, and embraced fresh opportunities, working as both an insurance agent and a real estate agent.
Kathy had an extraordinary gift for making people feel cared for. She poured her heart into everything she did — from crafting intricate crochet dolls by hand to preparing warm, home-cooked meals for her loved ones. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she had a way of brightening every room she entered with her radiant smile and joyful spirit. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud grandmother whose greatest joy was the happiness and well-being of her family. She delighted in nurturing those around her, offering comfort, encouragement, and laughter.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Jack Yiu; her daughters Elaine Kan (and husband Kinhong) and June Cheung (and husband Edwin); and her cherished grandchildren Andrew, Christopher, Michael, and Moses, as well as her late granddaughter Elizabeth, whose memory remains close to their hearts. She is also survived by her loving siblings, dear siblings-in-law, and many nieces and nephews who will forever remember her kindness, generosity, and warmth.
Family and friends are invited to honor Kathy’s life on Monday, August 18th at Deware Funeral Home, 576 Hancock Street, Quincy, MA. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. EST, followed by a Christian service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, which will also be live streamed at

Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery in Newton, MA.
Kathy’s life was a testament to love, selflessness, and the beauty of a giving heart. She will be deeply missed, but the light she brought to others will continue to shine in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kathy’s memory to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston (https://giving.massgeneral.org/donate), where she received exceptional and compassionate care.
