OBITUARY

Lester Orrin Andre

March 22, 1920December 10, 2012

LESTER O. ANDRE, of Quincy, formerly of Oil City, PA. passed away on December 10, 2012 at the age of 92. He was born in Bruin, PA and spent most of his life in the Oil City, PA area where he worked for the Pennzoil Company until his retirement in 1985. Mr. Andre and his wife, Lois moved to the Quincy area shortly after retirement to be near their daughter, Sue, and grandchildren and to work for Eastern Nazarene College.

Mr. Andre served in World War II with the 421st “Nightfighter” Squadron in the Pacific. He was awarded six Bronze stars and other medals for various campaigns throughout the South Pacific.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Lois V. (Kugler) Andre. Loving father of Sue A. (Andre) Hersey and her husband Clifford B. Hersey of Quincy. Devoted grandfather of Janelle (Hersey) Amadon and husband Peter of Salem and Joshua B. Hersey of Wenham,great-grandfather of Myles Amadon (23 mo.), and Madelyn Amadon, who was born the same hour of Lester’s death. Mr. Andre was a faithful and loving man for whom family and service to country meant a great deal. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral from the Deware Funeral Home 576 Hancock St. QUINCY, on Saturday December 15th at 12:00 noon. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours prior to the Service from 10-12 pm Internment will be at the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery in Bourne, MA. at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations in Mr. Andre’s name be sent to Eastern Nazarene College Class of 1976 Fund, 23 East Elm Ave Quincy, MA 02170. Dear Lois, Sue and Family--- I have had you, Lois, and Les on my mind for the past week. Then I get the newspaper and see Les' name. Needless to say, I shed quite a few tears. Dear Lois & Family

Please accept our deepest condolences. We met in the late eighties, my brother-in-law Bill Smathers and wife Doris came to visit my husband Russell here in Canton. We then drove to Eastern Nazarene College I do not know if Lester knew all the Smathers brothers but here is an update.

Bill passed away on 02/17/1990
Dick passed away on 04/06/2000
Don passed away on 06/22/2002
Russ passed away on 10/28/2011
