LESTER O. ANDRE, of Quincy, formerly of Oil City, PA. passed away on December 10, 2012 at the age of 92. He was born in Bruin, PA and spent most of his life in the Oil City, PA area where he worked for the Pennzoil Company until his retirement in 1985. Mr. Andre and his wife, Lois moved to the Quincy area shortly after retirement to be near their daughter, Sue, and grandchildren and to work for Eastern Nazarene College.
Mr. Andre served in World War II with the 421st “Nightfighter” Squadron in the Pacific. He was awarded six Bronze stars and other medals for various campaigns throughout the South Pacific.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Lois V. (Kugler) Andre. Loving father of Sue A. (Andre) Hersey and her husband Clifford B. Hersey of Quincy. Devoted grandfather of Janelle (Hersey) Amadon and husband Peter of Salem and Joshua B. Hersey of Wenham,great-grandfather of Myles Amadon (23 mo.), and Madelyn Amadon, who was born the same hour of Lester’s death. Mr. Andre was a faithful and loving man for whom family and service to country meant a great deal. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral from the Deware Funeral Home 576 Hancock St. QUINCY, on Saturday December 15th at 12:00 noon. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours prior to the Service from 10-12 pm Internment will be at the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery in Bourne, MA. at a later date.
