William "Bill" Hopper James of Weymouth, passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2021 peacefully at his home surrounded by family at age 97.
He was born on May 8, 1924 in Quincy, son of the late Willie and Anna (Olson) James.
Bill served as Chaplain in the US Navy and was a very proud WWII and Korean War Veteran.
Bill worked maintenance for the United States Postal Service for many years. He was past Post Commander and member of American Legion Post 95, Quincy and member of the Quincy VFW Post.
Beloved father of William "Billy" James and his wife Sandra of Weymouth and the late Robert "Bobby" James and his surviving wife Judy of Weymouth. Loving grandfather of Kevin James and his wife Amy, Kimberly Shevory and her husband Nate, Molly James and Nathan James; great-grandfather of Emma Shevory and Marley James. also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Bill is predeceased by his wife Irene G. (Turner) James and siblings, Bobby, Harry, John and Pauline.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 10am to 11:30am in the Deware Funeral Home, 576 Hancock St., Quincy with a Funeral Service to follow at 11:30am in the funeral home. Services will conclude with interment in Village Cemetery, Weymouth.
