Yon Ging Lee

Yon Ging Lee of Quincy, fondly known as Master Lee or Sifu, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 6th surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was 74 years young and blessed by so many long term and rich relationships with his students, friends, colleagues and family members all over the world. He was passionate about martial arts, tai chi, chi gong, healing, teaching, cultural exchanges with China and the Shaolin monks, cooking, eating and sharing Chinese cuisine, community service, helping others in need and connecting diverse people for deeper exchanges, understanding and new possibilities. He deeply cherished his 30 years plus experience at Harvard University with its students, faculty, employees and the Adams House community as well as his huge Tai Chi family! For all friends and family, a Zoom event will be hosted to share stories next week and a Celebration of Life program and a dedication of his portrait for his 30 years plus of service and commitment to the Harvard community is being planned around his birthday in March. A private family service will be held. He is survived by his beloved wife Rita Ye Guan, his older brother Ging Toy Lee and wife Mao Wun Chan, his late brother's Ging Bin Lee's wife Vivian Lee, and many nieces and nephews, Cherry Lee, Carol Lee and her husband David Moy, Raymond Lee, Virginia Tow and her husband Tommy Tow, Wan Yi Zhan and her husband Song Yin Su, Zhi Qiang Zhan and his wife Rong Hua Zhou, Wan Fen Zhan, Samson Lee and his wife Susan Chinsen, Erica Lee and her husband Vinny Wong and several aunts, uncles, grand nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Shere F. Lee and Huey Tuey Lee, his sister Su Zhen and her husband Gen Zhan, and his brother Ging Bin Lee.
