

Yook Yee Fong, Msgt USAF Ret. (AKA Herb), 92 of Clermont, FL left this world on July 8, 2022, to be with his "Honey Bunny" Linda Toshiko. They were married for 70 years and are together once again in Heaven.
Herb was born on May 22, 1930 in Boston, Massachusetts. He served for over 20 years in the USAF, enlisting when he was 19 years old. He was a radio operator during the Korean War, and was later assigned to the first Communications Squadron in Nagoya, Japan in 1951, where he met Toshiko Tokuda. Herb and Toshi were married on March 3, 1952, moved back to the US, and lived on various Air Force Bases around the country.
Herb became a Weapons Control System Technician in the Air Force and eventually became a Training Instructor for the MA-1 Weapons Control System for the F-106 Fighter Interceptor. He was an Air Force High-Powered Rifle and Hi-Powered Pistol Expert Marksman winning trophies against the best shooters in the US & International Military Services. Herb was also a skilled tennis player. He won 1st place in Open Singles and 2nd place in Doubles at the Tactical Air Command Tennis Tournament and played on the TAC team in the All-Air Force Tennis Tournament.
After his retirement from the Air Force in 1970, Herb settled in Michigan and worked at Wayne State University in Detroit in the Physics & Chemistry Department. Later, he became a Journeyman Electrician and work for the Detroit News.
Herb enjoyed the outdoors playing golf, tennis, fishing, target shooting and working on house projects. He could fix anything. He always had a tool belt handy to help with family and friends' home projects and repairs. Herb was a mainstay at his favorite golf course on Selfridge ANGB, where he was a "scratch" golfer, won many tournaments, and collected more trophies! He also enjoyed fishing on the various lakes in Michigan and then in Florida, when he moved to Clermont in 2016. He always knew the best places to catch Walleye and Rock Bass, and loved telling fishing stories.
Herb is predeceased by his wife Linda Toshiko (June 9, 2022). He is survived by his sister Lucy Chin; as well as his children and their spouses: Terence Fong, LTC USA Ret., and wife Pamela Fong; Timothy A. Fong COL USA Ret., and wife Chong Suk Fong; Valerie Ann Cummings and husband James Cummings; Katherine Benson and husband Donald E. Benson; his grandchildren- Lani Fong; Jonathan T. Fong, Maj USSF and wife Leslie C. Fong; Timothy A. Fong Jr. and wife Haley K. Fong; Daniel A. Fong CPT USA; Ryan M. Benson and wife Tiffany P. Benson; Heather N. Benson and Kenneth K. Spach; Alec G Manaia and Maley Paradela; his great grandchildren- Avery C. Fong, Parker E. Fong, Ethan J. Fong, Francis I. Manaia, Brynlee P. Benson, Josephine E. Fong, Carter M. Benson, and Gabriel W. Fong. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families.

Services will be held at the Deware Funeral Home in Quincy, Massachusetts on July 18, 2022 at 11 AM. His final resting place will be Forest Hills Cemetery.
