Alan Brent Dr. Cohen

Dateline: Raeford Dr. Alan Brent Cohen of Raeford, died Sunday, July 5, 2015 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital at the age of 76. Dr. Cohen was born March 1, 1939 in Rocky Mt. NC, to the late Sigmund Cohen and Lena Grennspon Cohen. He is also preceded in death by his daughter Amy Cohen Seymour. Dr. Cohen graduated from Duke University and Virginia Commonwealth University, Medical College of Virginia. He also served in the United States Navy. He practiced surgery in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia from 1974 to 2003. During that time, he served as Chief of Surgery and on numerous hospital boards and committees. After retiring from surgery and moving to NC, he continued to work part time for SXR Medical group in Fayetteville, NC. His passion for photography leaves a legacy of treasured memories for family and friends. He also was an avid cook and loved sharing food with everyone around him. Dr. Cohen is survived by his wife Wanda Williamson Cohen of Raeford, son Seth Daniel Cohen (Leah Edwards) of Mt. City, TN; daughter Lisa Cohen Rongo (Doug) of Mooresville, NC; step-brother, Lewis Silverman (Bobbi) of Williamsburg, VA; step-sister Ruth Ann Schoenbaum of Norfolk, VA; two grandchildren Austin F. Rongo and Hannah R. Rongo. A memorial service will be held 2:00pm Saturday, July 18, on the Williamson Farm 1275 South Bethel Road in Raeford.
