

Audrey Richmond, 85, of Red Springs, passed away January 25, 2017 at FirstHealth Hospice in Pinehurst, NC. Mrs. Richmond was born October 29, 1931 in Red Springs, NC to the late Mack R. Martin and Archianna Campbell Martin. Mrs. Richmond attended Red Springs High School. She retired from Converse, Inc. after many years of service. She will be remembered for her love of cooking. Preparing delicious meals for her family was a labor of love. From an early age she loved to dance, especially jitter bug. She would practice often with her sister, Betty Lou. She cut a rug any time the opportunity arose. Mrs Richmond met the love of her life, Harry Weldon Young at a dance at the armory in Parkton shortly after WWII. She never missed reading the daily newspaper. She loved to keep up with current events by reading and viewing newscasts. In later years, she loved to discuss politics. She was quick witted, humorous and always had a mischievous twinkle in her eyes. Her laughter was infectious. Mrs. Richmond was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years Harry Weldon Young and her husband and favorite dance partner of 10 years Ted Richmond, her parents, Mack and Archianna Martin, three brothers, Edmond Martin, twins, Billy Martin and Jack Martin, sister Betty Lou Mishoe. She is survived by her only child, daughter, Mary Ann Young Prevatte and her husband, E.J. Prevatte of Red Springs, granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Prevatte and her fianc Timothy Dudney and their son, Caleb Dudney of Pinehurst, NC; grandson David James Young Prevatte of North Myrtle Beach, SC; four nieces, Wanda Bartch of Red Springs, NC; Deb Riddle of Sanford, NC; Donna Martin of Holden Beach, NC and Patricia M. Freeman of Red Springs, 2 nephews, Keith Martin of Pittsboro, NC; Kevin Martin of Red Springs, NC; step-sons, Lee Richmond and his wife Bess, Ted Richmond and his wife Paula, stepdaughters, Cindy Hayes and Carlene Schneider and her husband Steve all of Puyallup, WA. A visitation will be held 2-3 pm Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Westside Baptist Church 527 N. Vance St. Red Springs, NC. A funeral service will be held after the visitation at 3 pm. at Westside Baptist Church, with the Pastor Randy Locklear officiating. Burial will be in the Alloway Cemetery.
