Charles O’Neal

He was born on November 30, 1950, in Ocilla, GA to the late Pierce and Vera O’Neal.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Emma Hottenfeller O’Neal; his two sons, Sean O’Neal and Pauly O’Neal; his granddaughter, Leann Heschl; and his brother, Paul O’Neal.

Charles was musically gifted and loved playing the guitar, specifically Bluegrass and Christian music. He was in the City Hall Bluegrass Band and would play at his church when given the opportunity. He loved fishing, woodworking, and drawing. He was good with his hands and a jack of all trades.

Charles is survived by his daughters, Debra Heschl (Mark) of Bridgeport, PA; Sherry Crist (David) of Collegeville, PA; Sandra Braxton (Marion) of Raeford, NC; and one son, Charles “Spanky” O’Neal Jr. (Roxann) of Raeford, NC; his grandchildren, Maryanna Hudson (Hunter), John Hamaday (Kaila), Gabriella Heschl, Miranda Heschl, Jacob Crist (Carly), Rachel Crist, Isis Braxton, Marion Braxton III, and Alissa Braxton; and four great-grandchildren, Annabelle O’Neal, Richard Green, Jordan Green, and Steven Kent; and his sister, Rosa DeFrancisco (Anthony).

A service will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at New Hope Church of God, 3109 Camden Road, Fayetteville, NC 28306.

The family will receive visitors at Sandra's home in Raeford on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.
