

Mr. Corbett R. Autry of Lumber Bridge died Wednesday, October 8, 2014 in Greenville at the age of 84. Mr. Autry was born in Harnett County on April 20, 1930 to the late George Raz Autry, Sr. and Bertie Lee Autry. Corbett was married to Jean Jackson and later to Frances Woolley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Woolley Autry, his brother, George "Raz" Autry, Jr. his brother "George" Autry and his sister Margaret Parker. Mr. Autry proudly served in the U.S. Army, XVIII Airborne Corps. Corbett was known for his hard work and knack for business. He started his work life with J and W groceries in Dunn as an eleven year old, and then it was a succession of businesses including a general store in Falcon. In his later years he was very much involved with his brother Raz in peach farming and as Corbett said, a gentleman farmer. His many friends still remember him in his trademark Stetson hat, his dress suit with tie and his Tony Lama boots. Mr. Corbett is survived by his son, Delone R. Autry of Raleigh; his daughter, Kathryn Autry of Raleigh; his brothers, Charles Autry and wife Jessie of Greenville, Wallace Autry and wife Edna of Dunn, Col. Jerry Autry, Ret. and wife Jackie of San Francisco, CA; sister-in-law, Ireni Autry; brother-in-law, Rudolph Parker; and many loving nieces and nephews. Corbetts children would especially like to thank Lisa Yates, caregiver and family member for her dedication to their father over the past year. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Crumpler Funeral Home in Raeford between the hours of 6 & 8 p.m. Graveside Services will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery in Dunn, Monday, October 13, 2014 at 11 am with Reverend Ed Wilson officiating.
