Mrs. Elva Irene Waters-Griffin of Carrsville,Virginia , died Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Consulate Health Care of Windsor, Virginia, at the age of 103. Mrs. Waters-Griffin was born in Hoke County on August 21, 1908 to the late Thomas Walters and Mary McPhaul. Survivors include her son, Harry Waters and his wife, Sheila, of Carrsville, V.A; two granddaughters, Stacy Waters-Bailey and her husband, Johnny; Stephanie Appling and her husband, Damon all of Suffolk, V.A. A graveside service will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at the Raeford City Cemetery with the Reverend James Wilhide officiating. The family would like to acknowledge the workers in the "Peach Unit" at the Consulate Health Care of Windsor for taking care of "Doodle Bug" as they affectionately referred to her. Arrangements for the family are in the care of Crumpler Funeral Home.
